Just a week after the BMW 2 Series Convertible was spied in Germany, its sleep brother makes an appearance as well. The BMW 2 Series Coupe was also spotted in Munich and for the first time it gives us a look at some of the design elements that we expect to see next year when it hits the market.
Built on the F2x platform, the new 1 Series Coupe will move up in class and be sold under the 2 Series badge. The car will share some design cues with the 1 Series Hatchback (especially inside), but overall, the 2 Series Coupe and Convertible are expected to look and feel sportier than the hatchback.
The F22 2 Series Coupe feature redesigned headlights (when compared to the 1 Series Hatchback) with a sleeker and sportier look. The heavy camouflage around the kidney grille is not revealing whether the headlights flow into the grille as seen on the new F30 3 Series. The rear lights will also be quite different than the 1 Series variants.
The 2 Series vehicles will be driven by a rear-wheel drive architecture with the possibility of the coupe to be paired with the xDrive system.
The Coupe will begin production in Fall 2013.
